Follow your company’s LOTOTO (Lock Out, Tag Out, Try Out) procedure.

Lift the service hatch to access the sealing head. Ensure the machine is fully powered off before opening.

Inspect the connections to the heater tongue

Ensure all heater connections are securely fastened at both termination points: the heater tongue and the transformer.

Clean the sealing blade thoroughly.

Remove the heating element from the lever by unscrewing the holding bolt using a 5 mm Allen key and a 10 mm spanner. Reinsert the bolt into the same through-hole it was removed from. The furthest hole is for 5 mm wide strap. The closest hole is for 9 mm wide strap. Place the heater tongue on a flat surface, ensuring it does not bend during cleaning. Use a fine-grade emery cloth and/or a brass wire brush to clean the heating element. Remove all plastic residue from the termination points. Replace the heating tongue if necessary. Part number: 0716010 – Sealing plate. Important: A contaminated blade will result in weak or partial seals.

Check heater tongue height

Ensure heater spring has not snapped, replace if required. The heater tongue should be straight with no bends, the heater tongue must be positioned so that it does not push the strap out of position during cam rotation

Ensure cutting block is set up correctly

The cutting platen has 2 objectives, a cutting edge to cut the strap and to compress the 2 straps together. When the cutting block is too tight against the mobile cutter, there isnt sufficient compression force to seal the straps together. Follow cutter set up in cutter guide.

Check spring compression

The platen/cutter piston has a compression spring inside the internal housing, if this compression spring has collapsed, insufficeint sealing will occur. Follow steps to remove gripper housing and replace spring.

Check alignment of welds

To acheive a perfect weld across the width of the strap, you must make sure that the strap guides and strap arm is set up for a good alignment.

Check heater tempreture

Follow your companies live testing procedures and safe working practices, with the machine in service mode, position 2 on the key switch. Use a Volt meter to check the terminal points for the heater tongue. The reading must be between 0.55 and 0.65 Volts. If the voltage reads beyond this range you must follow step 3 before adjusting terminal points. Isolate the machine and adjust as required To increase the voltage - shift terminal 2 in direction of "0". To decrease voltage - shift terminal 2 farther away from "0". Each increment (number) increases or decreases the welding voltage by approximately 0.07 Volt.

Check strap slippage when strap is gripped in rotary gripper

When the strap has successfully loaded inbetween the jaws of the rotating gripper, check to see how easy it is to pull the strap out. You should not be able to pull the strap out of the jaws with ease. To increase the pressure applied you will need to unfasten the nut on the thread of the gripper. Once done, rotate the Cam

Inspect the timing of the rotary gripper

For the correct timing of the strapping head, you must first need to ensure that the rotary gripper pinion with a red line is aligned with the first tooth of the rack arm. To do this remove the draw spring holding the rack arm against the cam, once the spring is removed, line the rack arm first tooth with the red line on the pinion, refit draw spring. Now the timing is correct.

Verify strap threading path

Ensure strap flows smoothly through all guides without twisting. A single twisted segment anywhere in the path will cause arch misalignment.

Check heater wiring and connector

E57 indicates the heater circuit is open or not reaching temperature. Check the heater cable is fully seated at both ends and inspect for visible damage or burn marks.

Test heater element resistance

With the machine powered off and disconnected, use a multimeter to check heater element resistance. An open circuit reading (OL) confirms element failure — replace the heater cartridge.
